If you’re new to cannabis, or new to buying it from a licensed store, the menu can look like a lot. Here’s a simple way to narrow it down without relying on hype or strain names.
1. Start with the format
Decide how you’d like to use it first, because each format is labeled and measured differently:
- Flower and pre-rolls are measured in grams, with THC shown as a percentage.
- Edibles are measured in milligrams per serving and per package, and take longer to take effect than inhaled products.
- Vapes and concentrates vary widely in hardware and strength.
Our format guide explains the differences in more detail.
2. Read the label, not the name
A strain name, or a word like indica or sativa, is handy for browsing but doesn’t guarantee how something will feel. Look at the producer, the package size, the labeled cannabinoids and, for edibles, the serving size. Our label guide shows you where everything is.
3. Think about quantity
Smaller packages are an easy way to try something new without committing to a lot. With edibles, check how many servings are in the pack, and never assume one package is one serving. Follow the directions on the label.
4. Ask questions
Our team can explain any format or label on the menu. We won’t recommend products for health conditions or give dosing advice. Those questions belong with a qualified healthcare professional.
A few do’s and don’ts
- Do keep products in their labeled packaging and store them away from children and pets.
- Do check the live menu before you visit, since stock changes often.
- Don’t drive while impaired.
- Don’t carry cannabis across state lines or onto federal property.
Before you visit
